Leaving La Laguna, the first place crossed is the La Esperanza wood, where the typical pine tree grows. This tree has supplied the wood necessary for the construction and establishment of Tenerife’s buildings. This route follows several steep and winding roads across a mountain massif which is covered with large area of pine forests. Further on you can find several view points, from which you can contemplate some breathtaking views and panoramas, such as Pico de Las Flores, el Diabillo, Morro de Gaitero, el Ortuna and the Las Cumbres view-point. From the road itself you can marvel at the extensive views of the coast and its villages, and the Guimar and Teide volcanoes.
On the Izana height is located the weather station of the same name and the astronomical observatory of Teide. The road ends in El Portoillo de la Villa, which serves as the entry point to Las Canadas.
