In the higher part of the Valle de Guimar you make out the Chinico, El Coto, El Rio and the Badajoz Gorges, where fig trees grow. In the mountain chain, the Izana peak stands out, on whose summit is found the weather station.
Near the coast you can observe the Monatana grande or Guimar volcano, with crater 300 m in circumference and 60 m deep. In the region, chosen by the Guanches for their assents, proliferate the grottoes in which they lived or which they used as tombs. What is more this was the first place which submitted to the Catholic Monarchs.
The town of Anatarre is among the most important in the south of Tenerife. In Anatarre you can visit the parish church of San Pedro.
