Hi everyone, im moving to the island next month, i know everyone asks this question but......... is bar work available? i also do a drag act, any ideas where i could maybe combine the two??? Thanks guys

Thanks Lisa, thats good to know, i do a drag act as well and was wondering if maybe i could combine the two???? Ive also been told Americas is the best place to settle, i have the funds to get an apartment etc but want to work asap as i dont want to fritter? it away so knowing i can get work is very reassuring. Thank you

If you use the search facility there are loads of post with advice on getting bar work the best advice is bascially .....

Walk around all bars and ask ask ask

Hand your CV around and about as many places you can

Be socialable and speak to many people most jobs are found by someone who knows that someone is looking..... word of mouth!

Be flexible as you will struggle if you are not, ie. you can not be fussy about hours, day you work etc ....

Have you got experience in working in a bar ? This is almost always wanted.....

Oh and check Oasis FM daily on their job section or listen to it they have a job section around dinner I think daily!

Thanks guys, im quite a 'chatterbox' lol outgoing quite extrovert and yes,from what i can tell the only way to do this is to jump on that plane and go for it! Thanks for the advice

Lee it is right to say that Las Americas has a good night life and it may be possible to obtain work there. Having said that do not rule out Puerto de la Cruz in the north of the island. There is a bar/club scene in the town albeit on a smaller scale. Two venues come to mind where they may employ a drag act. They are Vampi's and The New Robin Hood Bar. I am sure that there will be others.

Thanks Seagull, good advice but because im an absolute newbie i feel and have been told that theres probably more chance of work in PDLA but who knows where ill end up? as long as its on the reef ill be happy
