Hi to all you Tenerifers, I'm new and so glad I found this forum. Hubby and I last visited around 7 years ago and fell in love with the island. We decided to sell up, which we did almost 3 years ago but [don't even ask!!] somehow ended up living in Fuerteventura.
I'm so excited though as I'm planning a trip over for the spring, can hardly wait !!!!
My favourite place for scenery is Masca, as far as eating out goes I remember a fantastic Indian restaurant somewhere in playa up on a hill, and also a small vegetarian cafe just off the seafront down a sidestreet run by two ladies that did the most amazing quorn dishes, anyone know if either is still there?
Has much changed? Is Veronicas still up and running? last I heard it had been closed, I feel I've got loads to catch up on, trying to find out as much as I can using the search facility.
I wish the island was as close to Fuerteventura as Lanzarote [1/2 hour ferry ride] |

Hi Crazycat,
How on earth did you end up in Fuerteventura?? Perhaps you got on the wrong plane or something?? Ok, so it might have zero infrastructure, but I'm still jealous of the beaches !!!
Masca here is indeed scenic though. Our resident scenery expert Bardofely (among others) will probably be able to fill you in on the latest news and features there, as I'm a self-confessed philistine when it comes to amazing scenary right on my doorstep.
As for Indian restaurants and veggie cafes, well, they come and go so I wouldn't worry too much about that, but I can confirm that Veronicas is still hanging on by its teeth, despite attempts by the local council to kill it off. (They've actually had the entire road west of Veronicas blocked now for 9 months on the pretence that they're working on the barranco - who are they fooling?!?!? If it was outside a strip of Spanish bars, they'd have had the road back up and running before you could say "Muchias Gracias") Its just a good job for the bars there that drunken Brits will always find their way around roadblocks...... _________________ My Paranoia-Management Therapy is going great! Hi crazycat and welcome, I note that you've well and truly caught Islanditis, everything must be within 30 mins travelling time or it's not possible to go! _________________ .

Hi all, just to say thanks for such a warm welcome to a fantastic forum and site. I still have'nt given up my dream of living there one day. At the time of moving to Fuerteventura the property prices were too good to resist which is why in part we ended up here. We ended up going into a partnership as well which again we had not planned to do hence have been unable to get time off to visit our "fave" island Roll on April!!!!!! |
