Bit too much of a gamble for me
I work in finance already, and we've moved all of our euro currency back to £ as it was the best time to get the most back for it.. Wouldn't like to be in the shoes of someone that's working in England, but has a mortgage on a european holiday home at the moment! _________________ My Facebook |

How is it a gamble if you're positive that you are right? _________________ .

Because what we're currently talking about is the past based on factual evidence, the future you can predict, but it is of course a gamble, and with all gambles there are levels of probability based on previous performance.
Likewise, if you think i'm wrong, convert lots of pounds to euros now! _________________ My Facebook |

Surely we're talking about the future also? You stated that you wouldn't buy Euros now because of the low exchange rate. By implication you mean that in the future it will be better. Take a look at the past 4 or 5 years of Euro/Pound exchange rates. _________________ .

You'll get a far better rate if you use a foreign currency exchange company than you get from the kiosks etc here. If it's just holiday money I use my cards when abroad as generally you get a slightly better rate and you can draw enough to last daily rather than taking out a lot and having to carry it around with you. _________________ .

I agree Caja Canaries, I opened a bank account with them in December and they were brilliant and my card was there to pick up in two days.
Also the exchange rate is rubbish here at the mo and I am coming over toi live a week tuesday, most banks on 1.24 but |I have found a place that will do 1.36 which the internet transfer people are doing.

Now, in Blighty...My fellow Denizens...the best rate is about 1.22!!!...
We are coming out in...Oct for the Winter...so i am thinking forwards.
Does anybody know if a better rate is generally,or specifically available in
Tenerife...and if so which bank does it? If things are known to be Better
or,on-a-par, over-yer...then I am gonna bag up a whole mess of Euros
From Travelex...and jump on the Plane.

What exactly did they pay your mum with?? 'Magic beans'??
Even the official bank rate hasn't beaten 1.27 for almost 3 months. By the time the currency exchange companies, banks or bureaux de changes have taken their cut, your mum won't have got more than 1.24 at best.
Alternatively, if you're sure its now 1.31, I'll happily buy all the Euros you have at, say 1.28 to the pound, so that way you'll have a nice profit when you change them back at the bank the next day _________________ My Paranoia-Management Therapy is going great!
