hi everyone...havent been on here for a while..hope all ok...just looking for advice on best banks out there...i know im sounding lazy...but one where that can speak english..and perhaps good for transferring over money?any ideas chapletts?
also any ideas or info on this awful exchange rate?not good

I daren't say use the search but,....... this has been covered many times. In my humble opinion CajaCanarias is the best (cheapest) for normal private banking and they have staff who's job is nothing more than liaising between your branch and clients that don't speak English.

For transferring money between countries use a foreign currency exchange company like Global (I use them).

sol bank send you letters etc in english apparently (Im told by many people I know who are with them).

Most banks speak english at least a little. Im with BBVA and Pastor, both of whch have english speaking staff.

I wouldn't transfer any money from pound to euros at the moment unless you absolutely have to due to the dodgy economy

We are definately going with cajacanarias, mostly from the advice on this forum.

Try their website www.cajacanarias.es and select English.
We found it an excellent site.

The £ is at a record low against the euro, thus if possible i'd recommend waiting it out a bit.

No, you can't make guarantees with these things, but considering it's a record low, yes it more than likely it will get better,

Just after its inception the Euro seriously weakened, once people realised that it was here to stay it has gradually and consistently gained strength. Why won't it continue to do so?

That's what i'm saying Rob, it probably will. Thus, waiting it off for a bit to transfer large amounts of money makes sense

Sorry Rob misread what you were saying, the current rate is a spike, it's clear to see from previous patterns.

The euro may strengthen, but not that much. I think it was actually the pound that slumped, as opposed to the euro being strong as was shown against the £/$ rate

We can all have 20 20 vision in hindsight but if you're so convinced that you're right why not become a foreign currency player and earn big bucks? You don't need a lot of money to start.... just nerve.
