I was going to pay someone to help me sort out the family paperwork but after browsing the forum for an hour I think we are going to try and do it ourselves first.

Loads of really useful stuff on here, will let you all know how we get on! Cool

Well done for you Jenbray

It will be very useful and a big learning curve doing it yourself. But once you have done it and know how things are done then other tasks will not be so daunting.

Post Post subject: Kids now into school Reply with quote

Hello everyone, we have successfully got the girls into schools! I am surprised how easy this was considering our lack of paperwork.

Rachel (15) is going to IES Adeje 2 and April (10) will be going to the primary school in Tijoco Bajo. Both girls are starting on the 11th Febrero after the half term holiday.

We now have a car and pick up our new motorbike tomorrow (any bikers out there please get in touch!). Budget is severely dented now so seeking any kind of work.

Can anyone tell me if I need to take the children in person to the Ayuntamiento in Adeje to have the children put on our Certificado de Empadronamiento? Or, as I have read somewhere, is it possible to go with just their passports and birth certificates?

I am hoping to get ALL out paperwork sorted before girls start school.

my sister went without the children and when I took some people to Adeje, the children were waiting outside and were asked to be seen....

so you could try without first lol....if they need them they will tell you. Or as the kids start till 11th feb, take them anyways...saves an extra journey

I would take the kids as I reckon they will want to see them. Though, as is usual here, it will depend on the person you deal with Rolling Eyes

Go for it and try to get things done yourself. You will save quite a lot of money and be using your Spanish. However, if you need to see a Doctor or go to hospital, a translator can be invaluable as you need to know exactly what is being said.

I will make this day a happy one for I alone can determine what kind of day it will be.

Post Post subject: Got Empadronamiento for Kids Reply with quote

Went to the town hall this morning, I took the two girls but my son was still in bed. Anyway, they gave all 3 kids Empadronamientos. I'm surprised how easy this actually was!

Now we're off to test the new motorbike to collect Modelo 790's from the Police Station, then next week we'll be sorting certificados de registro.

The lady at the town hall said the 2 girls don't need NIEs for residencia, but was unsure about our 17 yr old. Does anyone know if he will need one?

It seems lots of people have scare stories about the necessary admin duties, but in reality, as we also found out, with a little research online and advice on the forum, things are not nearly as bad.

Having said that - I now need to get my driving license changed Confused

What bike did you get? I had a Ducati ST2 before moving but had to sell it to buy a car to drive over. A car apparently carries more luggage and the dog.

A new bike will be on the agenda at some point.

Sam.

Hi Sam great to hear from you.

Should have come over on a Goldwing, I hear they can accomodate an average family of 4 and luggage and a couple of pets. (if only.....)

We got a Yamaha FZ1. Been zipping round on it, its a nice bike but so hot wearing UK bike gear! We found that bike insurance is really expensive here, even with the same company we used for the house and car insurance. They don't seem to do fully comprehensive for bikes over here either.

We got the Fazer from a little bike shop in Fanabe, the guy there is really nice and speaks excellent english. He said he can get Ducatis from the main dealer or any other bike you like. Let us know if you would like any help or further info.
