We went on a camel train ride not far from Cristianos many years ago.
Can't remember much other than they had muzzles made of sharp chicken wire, and the sense of how strong they are coz of the ease they moved around with people attached ... and some of the peeps were bloody huge!
I recall seeing on a TV documentary camels being bled from an artery in their necks by african natives ...... for drinkies!

To be honest I think it look so cruel the way you see the camels tied up and waiting for business...... well you know what I mean.
they look so sad and its not a natural environment for them really is it to be kept like this, to be honest I dont think Id ever visit places like this, wouldnt encourage them to be making money.

Not many camels have a natural environment anymore with the majority being domestic animals! Countless animals of many species have a much worse daily existence than these camels so bad as it is at least they have fresh air, companions and appear to be fed OK. They also get exercise unlike all the billions of caged animals throughout the world, many of which can hardly move!
I don't go to these places either and haven't been in any of the Tenerife zoos such as Loro Parque, Eagle Park or Monkey Zoo Park.

iv been to the eagle park, and I belive that the animals there look very well looked after and they re in as much of a natural environment as they can get in captivity....... really wonderful and very educational for the kids I think.
never been to any of the others though. so cant comment on them

My only attempted involvement with Loro Parque was to email them about the at the time chimp needing help, Guillermo, who was imprisoned in a cage in La Orotava and had been there all his life. They never replied, which I took to signify meant they either weren't interested or have a hopeless communication online system! Monkeyworld in the UK mailed me back and wanted to help. The good news was that after over a year of publicity the poor ape was finally rehomed in mainland Spain, according to reports.
I have read that there is a frog colony in the Eagle Park and that got them points from me but I still haven't been there!

The eagle park works out quite an expensive day out, expecially if like me you have a couple of kids... but as I said worth it now and again.
Cant say I say the frogs the last time I was there, mind you it was about 2 years ago.
poor chimp being imprissoned in a cage..... but hey im glad you say he has now been re-homed. such lovely and funny creatures.
