Mrs Seagull and I did one of our walks in and around Puerto today. These are only some of the flora we saw in three hours.

(I will number them and perhaps The Bard will be kind enough to put some names to them later.)

1) Tulip Tree (Spathodea campanulata)

I understand that the common name for this one is 'Lady of the Night.' Apparently it flowers at night and because of its shape it resembles a prostitutes lamp which is lit after dark.

Though usually white in colour I have also seen it in a most attractive coral shade. I know where those plants are and I will post the picture after it flowers.

2) White Angel's Trumpet (Brugmansia x candida)

Sorry this one is not a good image folks, but I have a cheap camera. I have no idea what this unusual tree is called.

3) Australian Umbrella Tree (Brassaia actinophylla)

I think that this is a variety of the 'Large Bird of Paradise' plant.

4) Traveller's Tree (Ravenalla madagascariensis) and related to the Bird of Paradise

So many vibrant colours of 'Bougainvillea' are to be seen at all times of the year.

On the last pic for ' Very Happy ' read '8.' I don't know what happened, but it won't even respond to 'edit.'

This little beauty is called oleander and has a lovely fragrance that resembles vanilla. It is abundant and the flowers are either in pink or white.

I understand that this is from the Sage family of plants. As with the Bougainvillea this plant can be seen in a variety of different colours, sometimes seemingly coming off of the same plant.

12) Yellow Sage, Jamaica Mountain Sage or Lantana and is not in the Sage family but in the Verbena family. It is a medicinal herb and food plant of the Death's Head Hawk moth.

These looked more colourful with the naked eye, but I zoomed in from a distance to photo this.

13) Leadwort (Plumbago auriculata)

Hibiscus are flowering all year round in Puerto and in "Oh" so many different colours. It is one of my favourite flowers. I'll save my favourite flower til last.

Here it is, my favourite. This particular plant flowers twice yearly here in Puerto and is on one of the perimeter walls of Hotel Puerto Palace. Last week when we passed there were plenty of buds and I just knew that today there would be flowers. I wasn't disappointed. Because it is my favourite I will post two shots.

15) Passion Flower/Fruit (Passiflora edulis)

Well folks these are just some examples of the variety of flora that can be seen form a three hour walk around Puerto de la Cruz. I just love it here!

As Jimmy Wheeler used to say, "That's your lot."
