I know Mary. My daughter is visiting us at the moment. This morning we took our usual walk before Sunday roast dinner. She has visited us on a couple of occasions before now, but she demonstrated her surprise and delight at the amount of different blooms to be soon.

1. is a Tulip Tree (Spathodea campanulata), 2. is a White Angel's Trumpet (Brugmansia x candida), 3 is an Australian Umbrella Tree (Brassaia actinophylla), 4. is a Traveller's Tree (Ravenalla madagascariensis) and related to the Bird of Paradise, 7. I am not sure, 10. looks like a Jasmine but hard to say as I don't know the actual flower size, 11. is the Golden Cup (Solandra maxima) 13. is Leadwort (Plumbago auriculata), and 15. is a Passion Flower/Fruit (Passiflora edulis). The others I agree on.

And 12. is Yellow Sage, Jamaica Mountain Sage or Lantana and is not in the Sage family but in the Verbena family. It is a medicinal herb and food plant of the Death's Head Hawk moth.

This also comes in red and yellow and is often known as "Spanish Flag".

A belated thanks to The Bard as I haven't ben on line for a couple of weeks. I've been abroad on the island of La Palma. (Could be more pics to follow.)

My advice is pick up a copy of Exotic Flora of the Canary Islands by Juan Alberto Rodríguez Pérez and published by Everest. It is cheap, available in nearly all bookshops and on stands at shops for tourists and it has many of the species you will see. It will even fit in a large pocket or handbag so is easy to carry and it has a companion volume for wild endemic species - The Native Flora of the Canary Islands.
