Post subject: Artists Supplies in Tenerife |
|
|
Hello everyone,
Does anyone out there know if there is a dedicated artist supplies (painting) shop in the south of the island? I am running out of supplies I bought with me from the UK and need replacements , the cost of international shipping is a bit prohibitive as well as long waiting periods for delivery. I am looking for professional quality stuff. Any replies greatly appreciated.

Depends what you want. You can get paints, brushes and canvases in Afortunadas in Las Chafiras, opposite McDonalds. _________________ Who am I? Find out more here: http://www.myspacetenerife.com/index.php?page=view_profile&id=17

There used to be a specialist shop in avenida de Suecia in Los Cristianos above an office supplies/papeleria shop. I'm not certain whether it's still there but there were 3 or 4 selling that type of thing in that street. _________________ .

| Thanks for your replies, been to afortunadas and ofipapel which are okay for basics, will look into the one in Cristianos. Whereabouts is avenida de Suecia? Perhaps I would be better off up north near the University? Surely Tenerife must have loads of art students! |

Avenida de Suecia is the main shopping street in Los Cristianos.
I'm not sure whether La Laguna uni has an arts dept. You would I'm sure find artisit materials in Santa Cruz. Search using Spanish although many businesses in Tenerife are yet to realise the value of websites! _________________ .

Yes, there is at least one good shop in Santa Cruz because I went there with a friend. It was in one of the main shopping centres but I am afraid I don't know the name. I remember thinking if I start doing any art again I will know where to go! _________________ Find out more about me here: http://www.myspacetenerife.com/index.php?page=view_profile&id=10 |

I think there is one in the Carrefour centre at Santa Maria del Mar near the Burger King, just as you come up the escalator from the underground car park.
There is another Ofipapel (smaller shop) on Avenida de Suecia where they also sell paints, etc. It's near the church end of the road and you need to go up a few steps. _________________ Who am I? Find out more here: http://www.myspacetenerife.com/index.php?page=view_profile&id=17

Post subject: Two Cents Worth |

Hey Jen,
You may have already considered this idea, and I suppose you'd rather find a local source for your art supplies.
But, having come from the Bay area and getting parcels every week from my Amazon orders, I will put in my two cents worth and ask - if you can't buy locally, would you order online? |
