My acoustic set list is as follows:-

Working Class Hero
Lady D'Arbanville
Songbird (oasis)
Knocking on Heavens Door
Fisherman Blues
Yesterday
Hey Joe
Rock and Roll medly (Elvis, Blues etc)

+ numerous Beatles requests

I would welcome back up or warm up gigs, as the set is approx 30-45 mins.

Cheers

SJ

And the best of luck from me!

And down south I would suggest these songs are your best bet from your set:
Yesterday
Rock and Roll medly (Elvis, Blues etc)

I suppose it depends on your audience and you might be lucky but Working Class Hero and anything by Dylan I wouldn't expect to go down well - too heavy lyrics.

Personally 'Knocking on Heavens door' is definitely in my all time top five fave's, with 'Working class hero' ranking in my top ten, but I've certainly never heard 'Working class hero' performed in Tenerife !!!

But then maybe I've got a weird taste in music Smile

Off to find the CD now Very Happy

That sums it up! And don't consider doing Neil Young or the unthinkable - Leonard Cohen. No protest songs, no depressing lyrics, no grunge, no Goth.

Audiences down south want good time singalong stuff, silly love songs, sentimental ones, pop songs that are POP, songs from the 50s and 60s, 80s pop, old time R&B and rock 'n' roll, country classics, ballads, easy listening and comedy (but not too rude in some places)!

And only songs they know even if they are by famous acts they love eg if you do Van Morrison basically you do Brown Eyed Girl and that's about it!

You could maybe get round this and do material listed that is not popular and original material they'd never heard too if you are a pretty girl, as long as you also do some stuff from the popular categories!

Do tell me, "Why have you left Nellie Dean off of that list? What has she done to upset you?"

Yes, yes, they will love it - a perfect set! I could do much better if I knew all those! As for My Old man's a Dustman I remember hearing one of the entertainers here getting that as request and not only couldn't he do it but didn't even know the song so lost out on a potential fan!

What ever happened to:

Hernando's Hideaway (Alma Cogan 1955) Lyrics Here

Woodman spare that tree (Phil Harris & his orchestra 1947) Lyrics Here

Delany's Donkey (Val Doonican 1967) Lyrics Here

Old Rafferty's motor car (Val Doonican) Lyrics Here

My preferred versions indicated in brackets.

I'd love to her these performed well whilst on Holiday in Tenerife (but as I've said before......I've got a strange taste in music Smile )
