I have an idea for a book you could write perhaps on Campsites of Tenerife. I am sure there would be a market for it for people who want to holiday on a budget and publisher that does travel books might take it on!
I had a similar idea for one on the pensions of the island of which there are many. If I didn't have a cat I would give it a go myself! _________________ Find out more about me here: http://www.myspacetenerife.com/index.php?page=view_profile&id=10 |

I don't believe that there are enough of them to make it worthwhile. Publishers look for sales in at least tens of thousands. Plus which campers would spend money on a book when you can get the info on the internet? _________________ .

Good point, Rob, but what if it was extended to all the Canary Islands and combined camp sites and pensions and maybe apartment hotels too?
And you could include hotels as well. A guidebook on where to stay in the Canary Islands.
A lot of places haven't got websites or the information is very minimal. In a guidebook you could have photos, description of the location, services available, how much it costs, how to get there, places of interest nearby and things to do and a rating of how good or bad each place is. _________________ Find out more about me here: http://www.myspacetenerife.com/index.php?page=view_profile&id=10 |

Why not just make a website and have on-line booking? _________________ .

Now all you need is the capital to finance such a massive venture. _________________ .

Yes, that's why the idea must remain as an idea! |
My dad rode his bicycle around the perimeter of the United States when he was in his sixties. Some twenty years later, he wrote about his people experiences and his observations as a wildlife biologist in the book One Mile at a Time.
The book was picked up by a publisher, and they bore all the costs. Now it has gone into the second publishing.
From the time the manuscript was accepted until it was on the bookshelves was two years. That, as I understand, is pretty much the standard in the book publishing world.
'Camp Sites on Tenerife' sounds like an idea for a niche market book, depending on how large is the audience of campers.
I am writing a book with a theme of 'human interest' stories, emphasizing healing and synchronicities from my life experiences. The audience is a small percentage of the population, and that is fine. I don't have the objective of a best-seller. It is simply what I love to do. When it comes time to publish, I will find a way. Either a sponsor who believes in it as much as I do, or another way.
When a person has a dream they can find a way to live it, if the dream is strong and true and the person perseveres. The road of following the dream is a learning and growing experience. |
