The following guidelines are here to help you to get the most benefit out of being part of our community, and to let you know what is expected from you. We try very hard to help but can get frustrated when the same questions are asked time and again and when the poster has made no effort to read the stickies and announcements, so please have a look at the guidelines below and then join in.

Rule Number One: We do not tolerate spamming, postings which attempt to get free advertising only, or flaming on these boards. Postings which contravene this basic rule will be edited or deleted without explanation and repeat offenders will be barred. New members are not allowed to place links until they have 100 posts, after that they may request permission for a link.

Do:

Register, log in, and join in

Read the messages that are already there before posting especially the stickies and announcements.

Please post your message under the correct heading.

Please start a new topic rather than taking an existing one off-topic

Please give your topic a title that describes what it's about (We know that you need "Help!" )

Make your posting easy to read – use correct spelling and punctuation, we do not allow text speak

Limit any images you post to a maximum of 400 pixels wide or high, and 100KB filesize

Use PMs only if it's for something genuinely private

Keep your signature short - max three lines of plain text and no links until you’ve completed 100 posts. After which you may ask for permission to have a link.

Read the articles on the main site - these may also have useful information for you


Please DO NOT:

Spam

Post links or web addresses (except to sites belonging to public bodies)

Please do not make personal attacks, or retaliate to them - take it up with a Site Admin or a Moderator instead

Please do not repeat the same posting on several boards

Post messages entirely in unusual formats - upper case (SHOUTING), colours, bold, italics etc. - or in txt msg style or l33t speak

Quote previous postings in their entirety

Post oversize images

Link to get-rich-quick schemes pyramid selling etc


Please do not post with "PM me/Email me/Phone me" these add nothing to the stock of shared knowledge which this forum is intended to provide. Nor do we appreciate being used by cheapskates who won't stump up the small amount needed to advertise legitimately. The signatures/websites of these people are liable to be removed, and any further attempt to tout for business likely to lead to that person being banned.

We are under no obligation to change the guidelines, and we won't unless someone can come up with a damn good reason why it's in our interests to do so. ("They do things differently on such and such forum" does not count as a damn good reason.)
