where we live it is not far from a tributary of the River Tyne, we call it the Don or Burn, it is infact at the bottom of our street, so the amount to natural flora and fauna that is there is abundant, plus there is a scheme called the great north forest where there has been over a million decidious trees planted over the past 10 years. Thankfully the chavas of the area seem to be leaving it be and the wildlife that has been spotted is amazing.
John knows where there are 2 fox families down the Don, which he keeps to himself and someone has mentioned a badger how true this is we don't know, there have been sightings of Kingfisher, Jay, Heron, Grouse, Phesant and a hawk not sure which type plus all the usual common birds etc _________________ Failures don't plan to fail, they fail to plan

Bard I was sitting outside a Pub yesterday there was quite a lot of clover around and the amount of Butterflies was amazing, so glad the gardeners left that 12 foot square bit of the land alone _________________ Failures don't plan to fail, they fail to plan

I am glad to hear it. Here on Tenerife the African Grass Blue is one of the more common butterflies because its caterpillars feed on white clover that often grows in the lawns in resorts. I have seen a whole colony supported by a patch of clover on grass by a path right next to s shopping centre in Los Cristianos and another one in Costa del Silencio on lawns in front of apartment blocks. _________________ Find out more about me here: http://www.myspacetenerife.com/index.php?page=view_profile&id=10 |

Those are the Canary Blue butterflies, which are very similar. They land on people to suck up the sweat. It happened to me once and I got a pic of two on my hand and wrote about it for the paper here.
Fortunately for the butterflies up there they have a more or less safe environment. Their food plants are common and there are no pesticides. It is no good for most of the other Tenerife butterflies though because the temperatures are too extreme and the plants they need don't grow there. _________________ Find out more about me here: http://www.myspacetenerife.com/index.php?page=view_profile&id=10 |
