Bloody flight prices are ridiculous honestly!! May have to look at getting a package holiday. I hope it doesnt mean we have to go elsewhere on our jollies, now that would destroy me *so over dramatic* I thought by living closer to cities now it would work out cheaper but its just simply not the case - _________________ facebook me - esmahan hassan |

I know what you mean Ezzy.....
Neil goes back all the time and the flight prices have more than doubled...It is awful.
i am still waiting to book flights back for us to get to my sisters wedding and the prices are so high....looks like I will be getting a 2 leg flight which I really do not want to do lol...
Package holidays might be your only option hun..x _________________ Find out more at www.myspacetenerife.com

Hi
I am always moaning about the flight prices and the big variation there is. I booked a holiday last time it was £50 cheaper than booking a flight believe it or not.
We are coming out in September and we have booked two one way fares. XL had a flight going from Bristol but back to MAnchester. So we booked the Bristol leg with XL and the return with flythomascook. Although I made a spelling error and immediately realised as soon as I clicked the enter button and had to pay 35 euros to amend it. I was so cross.
I noticed easyjet have some really cheap deals from Gatwick for the beginning few months of next year, worth a look if you are willing to travel |

My grandma priced up going to Tenerife for and the agents gave her a price for the Conquistador for Christmas... it was £3k!!!!
They have decided to go to mainland spain, again as like my Grandma said she can't justify paying this much compared to what she would pay there just to possibly get better weather.
We managed to get a hotel in Benalmadena, Mainland Spain last week for £38 for the night it was a 4 start Thomon Pluss hotel (adults only), half board, with sea view (right on the beach), less than £20 each, it would have cost us more to go out for a meal ....and flights are cheap too as there are so many airports.
We would love to come out and stay with our friends before theu leave for Aus in Nov, but we can't believe the flight prices, we managed to get better prices last year in Jan and Dec.
Fingers crossed for you Ez ! _________________ www.secretgardenholistics.com

It's not that Tenerife doesn't want you Ezzy.....it's anyone from the UK unless they are so wealthy that they do not even need to look at the flight prices
That said....we do all expect to pay the same for flights as we paid last year / the year before (as Rob has said before, I seem to remember) and we never expect to have to allow for inflation which in the UK was 4.4% (last released figure) so if you compound the rate of inflation month on month or year on year then the flights will get more expensive especially when you see the additional 'hike' in oil prices over the past few months.
So the price of oil is dropping again now and most airlines are now expecting to turn in a profit for 2009 but did they have an immediate increase (like British Gas) of 35% in one hit.......not that I noticed.
Having booked flights I have noticed that they are more expensive for this September than next March...is this due to the airlines expecting the price of oil to drop even more...or are they expecting to 'restructure' and lay off staff to reduce operating costs....I don't know
I would be interested to know if flight prices have increased as much from other countries bound for Tenerife. _________________

Definately and the fact that it has all year round sunshine may 'help' companies to jump on the bandwagon no doubt. It's a lovely island if only people could venture out of Las Americas lol _________________ facebook me - esmahan hassan |

Who are "they"?
Tenerife doesn't control the price of airline tickets although the airport tax is twice the price of Gatwick.
I beg to differ that Tenerife "is the quietest its been". The tourism numbers are up although not by a lot but the No of British visitors is down a little. _________________ .

If Tenerife wanted to encourage more Brits to the island it could reduce the 'landing fee' for Planes flying in from Britain. But if every other country is happily paying the fee and filling planes why bother _________________

How can easyjet provide flights for less than £80 from Gatwick, Jan, Feb , March but my local area which is no further from Tenerife seems to charge no less than around £250 for a "no frills" service. I have to way up if I want to spend the whole day traveling or pay 3-4 times more for the convenience of flights from one of the local airports.
I really don't understand why there is such a big discrepancy
I don't regret buying my place in Tenerife because it will be my home in a few years time and I love the Island. I just get the feeling the airlines have got me by the wotsits over pricing. |
