The aspartame in diet coke is a wicked poison and should never be consumed. It also creates cravings for sugar! _________________ .

All 'diet' drinks that use asparteme which I believe is all commonly used pops.
Water is ok though _________________ .

You could try water and a slice of lemon. Very good for losing weight! _________________ .

Rob,
What your saying is true, but on Diet programmes they do let you consume Diet coke.. Although its up to the person to have the will power to not then have a sugar snack afterwards?
I drink Diet coke and find I dont crave sugar BUT I know that diet drinks can lead to bloating, so if you are prone to bloating then stay away, also!
Can you not have Scwepps Lemondade (Or whatever its called) As its carbonated water with Lemon and Natural Sugars I THINK (Dont take my word for it)
Oh, And good on you Margaret! I hope it goes well, make sure you keep us updated! xxx _________________ Whooo Tenerife in May!! |

I second what Rob is warning about and would add that it doesn't actually cause any loss of weight but often causes the reverse.
And watch out for all the foods laced with msg (monosodium glutamate) flavour enhancer that makes you want more whilst potentially damaging the body as a neurotoxin.

Isn't monosodium glutamate the E number 621? I remember my mum going on about 621 and 321 being the worst E-numbers...and they are in most crisps and sweets I believe.

I will make this day a happy one for I alone can determine what kind of day it will be. |

Well I won't be eating crisps or sweets, and alcohol will be in small amounts, soda water, water and coffee, which I enjoy anyway.
With any new regeme it is a case of adopting new "habits" and hopefully stick with them.
Victoria is going to the same club so we will be supporting each other. _________________ Failures don't plan to fail, they fail to plan

Hope it goes well for you Margaret. I also believe a diet is about adopting a healthy eating plan and sticking to it, not just for a few weeks/months. _________________ Who am I? Find out more here: http://www.myspacetenerife.com/index.php?page=view_profile&id=17

Your mum is right! 621 is msg!
I gave up buying crips because they started adding the muck to them and Walkers are the worst culprits - they added aspartame to some flavours like prawn cocktail too!
E321 isn't good either:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Butylated_hydroxytoluene
The sad fact is that many foods that were once OK are no longer so. If you write to the manufacturers they never reply. I know I tried it years ago! Their websites lie - they do not want to hear from customers at all!
Heinz lost my support years back when they too suddenly started adding msg to their soups and using genetically modified flour.
I had been brought up on Heinz canned foods and used to eat a lot but no more!
A point that I stress is that these companies are capable of making much healthier products and in the past they did so, so why should we have to put up with poisons deliberately added to them now?
Wrigley's chewing gum are another major offender and lost my custom totally. They went from Wrigley's regular gum with sugar and the option of Wrigley's sugar free with aspartame to even the regular gum having both sugar and aspartame. And they slipped the aspartame in quietly. Now I don't think there are any brands of gum not poisoned with aspartame!
Bulmer's cider started adding aspartame too and I quit drinking it.
Some people wonder why I am a conspiracy theory believer and one good answer I can give is what I am watching being done to our food and drink by the very big companies! _________________ Find out more about me here: http://www.myspacetenerife.com/index.php?page=view_profile&id=10 |

Hope you had a good holiday Margaret! Sorry I missed you before you went!
It is true about sweetners etc. one of the best natural sweetners you can use is a cacti juice called Agave, they even sell it now in Tesco and Sainsburys as well as at all health food shops, but this on cereal, home made cakes, with yogurt etc to help with sugar cravings and it is all NATURAL, no one knows the true extent of what these other things do to us, but it is unbelievable what is in the most things until you start reading the packets, for example in sausages they put in sugar and a whole arrangement of rubbish, so don't buy these from supermarkets get them from a well known butcher.
One of the best things to do is live like we would have had to do when we had none of this processed rubbish, it is easier than you think too!
Quick and easy meals in the steamer of meat/fish, veg and potatoes/rice.... doesn't take long and all you need to do is make up a nice gravy.. might need some stock for taste....but a great, easy, cheap way to loose weight.
I do not agree with weightwatcher cashing in on ready meals at extortinate prices full of crap! I know they are only advising people on eating in moderation but they should also, go more with the 'healthy' angle too on not just concentrate on calories/ points etc....
Have you thought about doing a calorie counting diet? That obviously means eating still in moderation but by understanding all the amount in calories in things it changes your lifestyle and not just your eating habits.
For example instead of buying a curry from the shop I would prefer to get my own meat, some tinnned tomatoes, whack it all in a pan, add my own garlic, veg and spiced.... I know everything that is in it, I know it hasn't got gee or oil in, I can make it as strong or as weak as I want and if I am feeling indulgent I add coconut milk.... one of the best things to put in there too is turkey, cheaper than chicken you get more and it is inst bland as it is in a curry!
Anyway good luck Margaret...
Oh another thing I found fantastic was making my own flapjacks with rolled oats, coconut, agave and some goats butter... you can also add some nice yogurt and agave to this to make a nice healty desert and the rolled oats help you feel full for longer......
Oh and another one is if you can keep the skin on your potatoes that is also a lot better for you and lowers the GI. And bread choose seeded where ever you can or go for whole meal pittas. YOu can also make lovely pizzas with wholemeal pittas, some tomatoe puree, a bit of mozzerella and what ever other topping you like you can freeze them too for when you have a craving... again a pizza without all the additives !
Anyway I'll shut up now...... SORRY! _________________ www.secretgardenholistics.com
