 Post subject: August 2008 Forum prize winners |

Yes, it's Sept 1st and time to announce the winners for last month.
Overall winner of the competition sponsored in August by the well known and lively Linekers bar, with some excellent posts particularly those in the Tenerife Flora and fauna section, was Bardofely. I cannot imagine that Linekers is quite his scene somehow but a new experience for you Bard. Well done.
The champers nominations were for some very good posts, Ezzy, we loved yours but we've decided to award the champers this month to karlb because of its relevance during these not so easy times.

Thank you, Ron, Karl, Margaret and Andy!
Yes, I have to admit I have never been there or any of the other bars in the area so it would be a whole new experience totally!
Seeing as I have to leave by around 7.30 to get back up here I was thinking maybe the best way for me to spend it would be to have a few drinks there and then share the rest of my prize with whoever from the forum would like to turn up for a meet at Linekers date to be arranged! I assume it is open afternoons and early evening so this would be possible?

Congratulations to Bard and Karl for your continual help and information on this forum.
Bard - I seem to remember spending an evening in Leonardo's (just around the corner from Linekers) with you Bard. Don't you remember?

Yes, Jenny, I do but I wasn't including that as in the same area because its down the bottom by Veronicas. I much preferred where we went to later in any case - was it the Dog and Duck? - because Leonardos was just too noisy so if it's anything like that I won't want to stay long!
I also remember that in Leonardo's some couple grabbed me as soon as I got in the place wanting to have a photo, to which I have no objection, and then the barman insisted he had seen me on TV and I didn't know what he was on about, especially seeing as I had also met some guy at Flicks who said he'd seen me on TV in Gran Canaria!
I remember thinking well, I wish I'd known about this TV appearance myself and I wish I'd been paid for it!

I am only guessing but does Linekers not open later than 7.30 ?

Well, that's what I would have thought! As I said I have never neard of a successful bar that closes by day! Thanks for the info, Jenny!
That would be ideal for me because I can get a 6 pm bus afterwards.
So because I would like to share my win, and there's no way I could possibly drink 100€'s worth of booze in one session I propose that we have a forum meet at Linekers on a Saturday afternoon that would best suit everyone!
