Post subject: Google, Youtube and getting redirected |
|
|
I don't watch TV but I do watch videos and suddenly for the last few days it has been really hard to get into the Youtube site because I keep getting redirected to the Spanish one which then doesn't get there and I get left waiting for s.ytimg.com "transferring data" or "waiting for s.ytimg.com".
If it finally gets there after many minutes I get a window saying I need to update to the new Adobe Flashplayer and have done over and over but it makes no difference.
Searching online it appears that this trouble is being caused by Google automatically redirecting me and adding "es" at the beggining of the URL. I searched the Google site and can't find how to tell them to stop doing this. I don't want to be redirected. I don't want to wait for s.ytimg.com to transfer data. I simply want to go to the URL I typed!
Does anyone know how to stop this crazy redirecting business? _________________ Find out more about me here: http://www.myspacetenerife.com/index.php?page=view_profile&id=10 |

I'm fairly sure that this is not Google redirecting you to the 'es' version of Youtube because (working in reverse here because I'm in the UK) but even typing the 'es' Youtube URL I can't get onto it. Youtube redirects me the the 'uk' version.
It appears Youtube redirectes to the website for the country you're browsing from. _________________

Well if that is the case why has it suddenly become so difficult to actually view the site? I assumed it was Google because I have a Google Toolbar and because I thought they owned Youtube.
It appears that because I am in Spain I am no longer able to use the site or have to spend ages trying to do so! I got in last night after a long time! _________________ Find out more about me here: http://www.myspacetenerife.com/index.php?page=view_profile&id=10 |

| Obviously I can't answer as to why it has become more difficult to view the site and you are indeed correct that Google owns YouTube.
If you try to access the http://uk.youtube.com site (by typing it directly into your address bar) I believe it will still redirect to the 'es' site proving it's nothing to do with the Google toolbar. _________________

I have found a few sites and forums with other people with exactly the same problem and so far no answers. One of them is in Spain and had the problem two days! I am not alone! _________________ Find out more about me here: http://www.myspacetenerife.com/index.php?page=view_profile&id=10 |

It means that I cannot view Youtube videos in blogs at Myspace either. There is just blank space where they should be. I posted in a friend from Germany's blog saying this and a friend from America posted that he couldn't see the video either but had a message saying it was unavailable to his country! This is very strange seeing as I can access other sites and videos fine! _________________ Find out more about me here: http://www.myspacetenerife.com/index.php?page=view_profile&id=10 |

Hi,
I have just gone on to youtube and cannot get any videos at all, all I get is a black screen where the picture should be. I wanted to see Todd Carty fall on the ice last week it sounded really funny. |

Sounds like it's not just me then! There must be something wrong with the site! _________________ Find out more about me here: http://www.myspacetenerife.com/index.php?page=view_profile&id=10 |

I have just typed 'elvis youtube' in to Google. I was given many options. I clicked on one and saw Elvis sing 'Blue Suede Shoes.' I had no problems. I'm using Mozilla FireFox, Bard. Are you? _________________ You will never grow old with Rock n' Roll. |

Yes, I have Mozilla but it also doesn't work in Internet Explorer or Flock!
And other people have reported the same problem online. I found one in the Youtube forums but couldn't reply vecause you had to join the group and sign in - this I couldn't do because I was back to square 1 and waiting for s.ytimg.com! _________________ Find out more about me here: http://www.myspacetenerife.com/index.php?page=view_profile&id=10 |
