..playa del duque in adeje is my favourite beach. it's clean and well looked after, and there are some very clean toilets and showers there too.. and the sunbed and mattress hire is not too expensive... there are some lovely ( but pricey) restaurants close by.. and a good ice cream parlour...the walk around the rocks is awesome, the view wonderful!! |

i have to agree playa del duque is a really nice beach, but one of my favourite beaches has to be Puerto Colon !!!
the view of the harbour is fantast and nothing quite beats sitting in one of the many beach front bars with a cold beer watching the boats bob up and down to make you feel like you truly have arrived at your destination... tenerife
, the beach (is a soft man made yellow sand lol but) the water is very calm and there is plenty of space to hire a sun bed or you can swim in the inflatable water play ground and there is a fantastic dutch bar called Sparkys just opposite the port that sells the most fantastic cinamen apple pie and cream !! to die for
Also if the kids get a bit bored you have the crazy golf a stones throw from the beach or the book exchange ............ so all needs covered
There are so many beaches to choose from I think it is personal preference at the end of the day. As I have a 3 year old its got be be quite safe with activities nearby. Another favorite, although quite small is a tiny beach just past Calleo Salvaje going toward the TF1, the name escapes me but is has a huge campsite for mobile homes that is used more by the spanish. Its a drive down quite a few bendy roads to the beach front that has one bar and restaurant. I think it sounds like La Puertico but someone else on the forum will point it out and correct me.
Wherever you go have a great day.

My ideal house is there for when I win the lottery - the one sat on that rock over the sea Needs some work but perfect location. |

My mate's mum has a little canarian house on the rocks directly in front of the sea in La Caleta... they moved here about 40 years ago and got it dirt cheap... now they have germans knocking on their door asking if they want to sell it all the time!!! _________________ Buy & Sell your stuff online FREE - www.canarianexchange.com - eBay for the Canaries |

But La Caleta is now too built up, which El Puertito will be as well in next-to-no-time. Shame
Nevermind, one day I will find my dream home on the sea-front for next-to-nothing Better keep looking...if you guys see anything, please let me know |

I think you'll have to move up north for that now... the coast will be saturated all the way round eventually! Move into the hills instead _________________ Buy & Sell your stuff online FREE - www.canarianexchange.com - eBay for the Canaries |

You mustn't be talking about the same Playa del Duque that I know then... the one in front of the Hotel Bahia del Duque... sunbeds there are 15€!!!! _________________ Buy & Sell your stuff online FREE - www.canarianexchange.com - eBay for the Canaries |

Sara, you don't think that's expensive because you are comparing to UK prices but for us living here that's extortionate 15€ is about half a days wages for the average worker here |

The average price for sunbeds is about 1-3€.
15€ IS extortionate when most people earn about 5€ an hour... and a lot of people earn a less than that...! _________________ Buy & Sell your stuff online FREE - www.canarianexchange.com - eBay for the Canaries |

...well, i'm on my jollies and i intend to be comfy on a clean, well maintained beach, with good loo and shower facilities.....obviously, if i lived there i would find a beach with the sunbeds more in line with my means.....or i'd chuck a towel on the sand and make do...but i don't, i'm chillin', so if it's 15 euros i have to pay, then i pay it!!!.....as for the wages.....you choose to live there so you take on all that it is..low wages included...manana service...iceland being expensive...and all the other things that are different from the u.k. ..the price you pay for living in a beautiful, sunny place.....!!! |
