Here's a pic of a Red Admiral I photographed in Icod de los Vinos. This is a seperate species to the Red Admirals seen in the UK and elsewhere!

The colours seem more vivid than the English variant....

I think it's because of the contrast with the dry ground and the flowers but it matters not to me for both butterflies are really beautiful and the one here I have seen flying in cloudy weather up in the forests in Aguamansa which is different to the UK type!
