Global Music Festival - One World Beat 2006


Dear friends, artists and partners,

First of all I would like to thank you for being part of One World Beat.
2005 has been a very interesting year with many new developments - new
people, artists and partners have joined us, new relationships have been
established - the One World Beat community is developing worldwide. After
three successful global events in 2003, 2004 and 2005 we are proud to see
our grassroots project grow through people who share our vision!


One World Beat 2006
Many of you are ready to go for the fourth Global Music Festival and we have
set the date. One World Beat 2006 will take place on the weekend of May 6
2006! Bands and musicians will be performing concerts in cities around the
world to communicate our message of peace and hope: United in One World
Beat.


Participate and Promote
You can participate by performing or organizing a concert in your city. All
you need to do is sign up your event on the www.OneWorldBeat.org website
(starts on January 20 2006). To help us promote you can put one of our
banners on the Internet and get the word out to your fellow musicians and
friends.


Coordinators and Volunteers
We are currently putting together our new team of coordinators for 2006. If
you have good communication and organizational skills, want to put your
talents into a positive project and make a difference through music - join
us. We are looking forward to hearing from you.

Bard, I remember we discussed this event. Who was it I should contact? Are you going to join in?

Jenny, I am not sure what's happening! I have tried for many months to get people interested and have failed and then Jacqui Yuile-Flight News Editor of The Paper (who did a big one in 2004 at Pleasure Island) announced in The Paper that she was doing another this year and wanted to hear from people with ideas for venues etc. She was going with the Drumming in One World Beat idea and was thinking of beach and mountain locations. I mailed her saying I wanted to be involved and contributed the idea of a novel percussion instrument that can be gotten for free and given out - pods of the Poinciana tree which make splendid shakers. Jacqui mailed me last week to say she likes my pods idea but had been incredibly busy with work (she has been temping as Editor too). I replied saying we need to sort something very soon but have heard no more so at present cannot say what is happening. I much appreciate your interest and suggest you contact Jacqui. She can publicise it well and get sponsorship being a media person and has done very well with it before. The one I did was a thrown in at the deep end affair!

I emailed her yesterday just saying that we are interested in being there - my husband and friends are not a band and do not wish to go on stage but they do love to bang on their drums! Not had a reply yet.

Well that makes 3 of us and time is whizzing by so if she's going to do this she had better hurry up with something!

All I can say is I have tried to get this going and managed against the odds last year. This time I thought I would let Jacqui sort it seeing as that's what she said she was doing in The Paper and that I would get in touch and volunteer ideas and my participation. I don't know why something like this, which in the UK would be easy to sort out is so hard here!

Just heard from Jacqui yesterday and she had this to say:

Sounds like you are the man for the job - why not take it on and set it up
at Brujas bar? Personally, I would be happy to give it some space in the
paper but time is running out and I am swamped with a number of things, so
OWB is having to take a back seat.

I have told her I haven't time to sort anything out because I am in the process of sorting out moving amongst other things.
