Hello,
We are looking at coming to Tenerife at the end of March 2005. We are
walkers and would like to travel around the Island stopping at different
places. We would like to be free to change our schedule as we please and
therefore dont want to book places in advance. Would we have any problems finding places to stay each night without booking in advance? What should we expect to pay for reasonable accommodation?
Thank you,
Bevan Crighton. |

| Most of the rural accomodation is run by the local people who do not like to pay to advertise and the majority do not speak any language apart from spanish. Unless you know the island well then i would say that you're better off staying in one place or if it's two weeks say two places and travelling to different walks each day. I used to own a climbing and walking centre here and found that i could give a great variety of walks to my clients without having to spend many hours in vehicles. I am in the process of trying to get the assosciation of 'casas rurales' to advertise on this site but it takes a long time. Cost wise it would probably be as cheap to stay in an hotel or apartment and rent a car. I hope this helps. Rob |

There are pensions in many towns around the island but prices vary and it is best to book in advance or they may be full when you need a room. They have single and double rooms tend to be cheaper than hotels and fine as overnight accomodation. On my first visits to this island I stayed at Pension Berlin in La Laguna and was very happy there.
I am not sure if there is a list somewhere of all of these places but I know that there is usually at least one in the towns and cities in most parts of Tenerife.
As for walking, I love it! I have been all over the mountains of the north and am currently enjoying the coasts and deserts of the south! _________________ Find out more about me here: http://www.myspacetenerife.com/index.php?page=view_profile&id=10 |
