Just checked out your first post and I think the reason no-one replied was because you were not specific enough. You did not ask about documentation but instead a checklist of things to do. These could be all sorts of things and the possibilities endless eg. booking flight/boat tickets to come over, choosing area to live, finding apartment, etc etc. I know it's a bit late now but next time ask more specific questions |

Hey folks. There are some people that you can instinctivley trust..... de veras!!
I'm planning to purchase a couple of rental apartments in the next few months in Tenerife.... possibly Torviscas and Los Christianos. You can rent from me if you like. Tier 1, luxury apartments for the price of a penny!! I'm trustworthy........ honest...
Apologies, I've just realised that this has been posted to the wrong subject area of this forum. Doh!!!!!! |

NatalieC hi
no you dont need a NIE before you rent but if you are buying a place out here then the answer is yes.
To rent out here, just find a place then get your NIE sorted. I belive now there is a new regulation that when applying for NIE you now need to take your domicillio? (can anyone confirm this)
Domicillios are attained from the local town halls of the area you rent in. _________________ Find out more at www.myspacetenerife.com

| yeah i think you do need the "enpadronamiento" before you go to get the NIE now but then they change the goalposts every bloody week. |

lol yes that would be the way i'd do it. lol
you most likely would find a place in a week or two weeks holiday, not guaranteed of course. Then get your NIE form handed in (if you download it and fill it before you get here that saves time) then you will be able to get a job. _________________ Find out more at www.myspacetenerife.com

I hate to throw a spanner in the works but I thought that in order to get a "Certificado de Empadronamiento" / "Certificado de Domicilio" / Certificado de Vecindad" you needed to take something to prove where you live, i.e. your rental contract. I may be worng and they may have changed these rules but this certificate is to certify that you live in a certain "municipio" and how can they certify it if you show them no proof?

Hi Jenny
Yes you have to take a copy of your rental contract, or escritura if you own property. Take it to the local town hall off the area. I think it cost about 2€ unless you need it for putting children in school, in which case they give it to your for free.
everything is a hassle over here and rules change all the time _________________ Find out more at www.myspacetenerife.com

Hello
I got everything sorted at the beginning of February and it was simple, I did it in Barcelona, but the it should be the same in Tenerife
1. Get Social Security Number (needed passport and 2 photocopies)
2. NIE number (passport, 2 photocopies, 2 photos, I had a work contract but I don't think this was necessary)
3. Empadrionmiento (Proof of address, I had a letter from my Landlord)
4. Register with a doctor.
5. ID card - haven't done this yet, and it would be different in Tenerife anyway.
Anyway just thought I would add my 2p worth because noone told me what I needed to get when I came here.
By the way all you need to work is your social security number.
Hope this helps someone!
