Im coming out to Tenerife on the 21st of April and I have a Studio lined up to rent in Castle Harbour (Los Cristianos) but it doesnt have a phone line so im going to have to get one installed which isnt a problem but... I just wanted to know if everywhere can recieve ADSL because I dont want to start renting a place only to find out that the exchange wont let me have it.

most places out here do have ADSL coming in. Unless you are up mountains or out in the new places in the back of El Medano.

You will need you NIE number to get phoneline and ADSL also a spanish bank account.

The best thing to do would be to go into the telefonica shop in the main square of shops in Cristianos. Ask for Soulef she speaks perfect english, she should be able to find out for you and book everything you need

Unfortunately getting a phone line may not be as simple as you think. We have been waiting for a line for over year and live about 2 mins walk from Castle Harbour. The area wont allow anymore lines for all sorts of crap bull**** reasons.

There are various different people you can talk to to try and speed up the process eg, Lowcall, telefonica in english etc.

Once you have a line you shouldnt find it a problem to get adsl. My other half is a computer engineer over here and has always been able to set people up with it without problems. You dont have to go for Telefonica, there are others coming on the market eg Wanadoo, direct telecom, spantel etc.
