If you take a taxi in Los cristianos and you go until "las veronicas" taxi stop (in Las Americas) you still are inside the Arona municipality. So the taxi driver must have the fare 1(cheaper).
During the route all the taxi drivers change it to the fare 3 (very expensive). You must be on the alert. Remember, the Arona municipality, where los cristianos is, finishes at Mc Donald's in las Americas, opposite of the "las veronicas" taxi stop and in all that route the fare should be 1.

Rather than start a new thread I thought I would resurrect this one. How does that Taxi charging system really work? Every taxi I have ever got in here puts it on tarriff 3 - is that correct? I was told that unless you are going to the airport or a port they should not add more than 45 cents in supplements either. I have challenged a few on overcharging and they back down if you stand you ground firmly enough. If they don't then bye bye tip.

Not all but many taxi drivers constantly rip off clients by adding extras, charging the wrong tariff or covering the metres. Did you see that they were protesting the other week because the fines for being caught ripping off tourists were too steep and they couldn't afford them???

It seems to me that if you're honest then it doesn't matter how steep the fines are for breaking the rules intentionally.

It surprises me that anyone would have the brass neck to protest about getting fined for ripping people off - unbelievable.

When I challenged one of them about why they had added 1.80 in supplements to a 4 euor fare he told me it was tax. I burst out laughing and refused to pay any of the supplement and left no tip.
