Post subject: Spanish taxes and the nightmare that is!!!! |
|
|
Right, in process of completing paperwork on an studio apartment in Puerto de la Cruz. I know that the present owner (my dad) have not been there for 5 years have just brought the communities up to date but wonder what other "challanges" are round the corner!! I remember something about "busuras" rubbish collection fees payable to the "office of taxes and maybe annual taxes payable to the city council? anybody got any ideas on this couse I'm a little out my depth on this at the moment does anyone know if these are paid monthly quarterly or yearly? and what are the rates for them? given nobody will be living in the apartemtn except for holiday visits can you get away with a reduced rate for not being a resident? I'm sure I also read something about goverment not being able to collect taxes after maybe 4 years not ebing paid? not sure if there are any other taxes above 1) communities 2) Rubbish collection tax 3) Annual tax whatever that is???? always good to get info from people living there that I guess have found out the hard way! just hope I 've not got any horror stories to come!
Thanks in advanc efor your help

They all vary from ayuntamiento to ayuntamiento. You should check with them.
Mine are around 15€ for basura... I think! and that's paid ever quarter (again, I think!) my 'rates' are about 45€ per year.
I'm not sure anymore though, as I set up a direct debit. _________________ Buy & Sell your stuff online FREE - www.canarianexchange.com - eBay for the Canaries |

You're lucky Kirsty, my rubbish is 35€ every quarter and IBI / contribución (rates) is 163€m per year. I guess that's what I get for living in a tourist area.
The rubbish can be paid at the local town hall and for the rates I get a letter sent to me and then I go and pay it. If you pay late you get charged interest (a one off thing) but you do get about 2 months in which to pay them or you can set up a direct debit.
I doubt very much you'll get a discount for not being a permanent resident. Nice try |
