Now it's getting scary. I've sold the house, shipped my personal stuff, paid a deposit on a business, sorted out the apartment to rent for a while.
Kind words of encouragement appreciated at this moment. I am excited, but cautious as well, but what the heck. Even if it goes wrong I won't regret it.
See you Monday! _________________ Red Arrow Money Exchange means discounts for all! |

Hi Planetalf
Am sure you will be fine, we went through exactly the same just over a year ago plus we were bringing over our elderly black labrador and cockatiel! Put kept thinking positive and knew it would work, it does if you are determined and we love it. Pretty hectic at the beginning with all the formalities but it all gets sorted, have found everyone just so friendly here.
Good luck and look forward to hearing how you are getting on
Cheers |

Yes, please don't avoid us when you get here. And what you learn could be helpful to others wanting to move over here.
As Stripps says, join us at the next meet up so you can tell us all about your move. |

Hey Thanx 4 all your encouragement.
Chapter 1 - Have just found out that the police have made a mistake with my NIE number and left my surname off the paperwork and substituted it with my middle christian name!

It's because the Spanish have two surnames and the first surname is the one they use for important documents. I will try to explain, in brief!
You get your first surname here from your father (his first surname from his father, etc), then your second surname is your mother's first surname (her father's first surname, from his father). As a woman, when you get married, you don't change your surname here and your children get your husband's first surname first then your first (or only one in our cases) second. Is that clear??
This is why people with second christian names often get called Mr "whatever their second christian name is"
It surprises me that they got it wrong on the NIE though as there are different boxes to fill in for your first and second surnames and for your name |

Only thing is, I am sort of struggling to wind down a bit, like you´re supposed to. I have had an eventful two days here so far, I have bought a spanish Movistar mobile which has already gone phut (lucky I kept the receipt). All my meetings seem to be put back a day from when originally arranged. The apartment, although ok, have no hanging rails or shelves in the wardrobes and the pillows are orrible.
So, where is the nearest Homebase like store to Torviscos Alto and where can I get some decent pillows from. Answers by tomorrow night if anyones out there.
Oh Yeah, my hire car seems a bit wounded, but it´s the summer and I can have it for E250 a month.

Planetalf,
I'm moving over on 14th of August and will be looking for a hire car for a month. Can you give me the name of the hire company you used, cos €250 is a great deal!? _________________ "Police arrested two kids yesterday, one was drinking battery acid, the other was eating fireworks. If you come into Las chafiras and go to the shop called chafiras just up from the hyperdino....that is very similar to a Homebase.......there is also a textiles shop next door whic may help you out in pillows....
Glad to see you are here and things will pick up...
Everything is slow here....take a deep breath and relax....chill out and enjoy life...... _________________ Find out more at www.myspacetenerife.com
