There are Ferreterias (Ironmongers) all over the place that may be able to help you out if you can't get to Las Chafiras. Another one, perhaps closer to Torviscas, would be Sagrera in Adeje (up next to Mc Donald's and Mercadona supermarket).

I think thats something I'll find hard to get used to aswell, when I was in a bank in Palma (mallorca) a few weeks back, stuck in a que for literally an hour I was getting a wee bit frustrated to say the least! I'll get used to it

Yeah would have helped. I think the reason I got so frustrated is because I was in holiday mode (as I will be no doubt next week). In saying this I mean I've got the thoughts (I cant be stuck in here too long I'm going home in a few days so can't waste any time around here! things to do!!) running round my head. Where as when I'm living there I know I've got all the time in the world so I can just chill and let time go by.

A word of warning on these cheap car hire deals....Make sure that the insurance is for car hire, there are some people who buy second hand cars and let them out cheaply long term but with 'normal' insurance. Should you get into an accident then YOU are driving without insurance, a serious offence out here. Not all are like this, some car hire companies 'use up' their older cars like this.

Big welcome Planetalf, take your time and try not to rush it, otherwise you will burn yourself out, do a bit, relax a bit, takes time when you first move here to chill out, but heh thats why we all here to get away from stress and panic mode. The banks unfortunately are always like that but have got used to it now. Try to go as little as possible, at the beginning could feel the old heart pounding and getting frustrated now it doesn't matter. Although have found if you go early when they first open the queues generally are not that bad.
