Hi there

My names Adam and i am just dropping by to say hello and introduce myself

I'm in a band in the uk called Avenues (www.myspace.com/avenuesmusic) and when i'm not doing that i look after several business in the UK.

I have a house in los cristianos and i'm looking to move over to the reef full time once the bands album has been recorded/toured.

We're recording with a great producer so i'm hoping for big things - the thing is, and the main reason for the post is that i'm looking to offer my services in the foodservice industry to people who own bars restaurants on the island to cover sickness/holidays that sort of thing as my UK business look after themselves.

Any tips on where i should advertise my services? anybody know of people already doing this and how successful it is?

I've not read loads of posts but so far people seem to be really friendly and honest so hit me with it!

I think you'll need to offer your services free of charge to some owners while they are here in order to learn the ropes in Tenerife. Many things are very different here and no matter how good you are in the UK you'll need extra skills here. I wouldn't trust my business to someone who didn't know Spanish laws and customs etc.

Hi Ad, I think Rob is right you need to build people's confidence in you to start with, there are so many people here offering so many services but not all are so good and you need to be able to offer and provide a good practical service and prove it. Hope it goes well though for you. Cool

Hi Adam and welcome to the forum.

Have a good look through the forum and use the search facility. Many people have asked about setting up new businesses and moving out here. There are loads of posts with advise and information on how things work here.

Laws and rules and everythig are not the same here, but once used to things here then it all goes fine.

I think i may have slightly mis-represented myself in the sense that until i'm able to pursue my own business on the island i was looking to offer a very personal 'releif' position.

As a fully qualified chef etc.......I'm getting to grips with the laws of the island slowly but surely and i'm fortunate to have a couple of friends who own bars already so hopefully if we're not on MTV i'll finally get to move over.

Thanks for the tips and i agree that theres probably more helpful information on the forum than there are on most of the property places information pages.

Ahhh It's a bit clearer now....I don't need any "personal relief" but I think what you're really offering is to be a stand in cook if a bar or restaurant needs one. You could try advertising in our directory for a few pence per day for a full page ad.
