hi all,

I have been lucky enough to secure a fantastic job and wil be heading out in a couple of weeks and I wondered if I could get some advice....

I am a single thirty something female and this will be a career as well as lifestyle move for me. I have already traveled a lot, and as much as I love to party, on this occasion I am looking for an equal balance of furthering my career with experiencing the culture and trying to learn spanish....(as well as some partying of course)

I am thrilled to bits to have secured this role, and really excited about making the move!!

however...after establishing a great network of friends in the uk, the will be the only things I will miss (although they are already booking flights..hehe) so I was wondering what the ex-pat "support" network is like.....?

I am sociable soul and do not have any probs making friends and I am hoping that being a singleton over 25 wont make me stick out like a sore thumb!!

Hi Smiler and welcome to the forum. Am sure you will not have a problem here as everyone is just so friendly. Apart from meeting people you work with they are a great lot here on this forum. It is nice too I think to meet local people rather than just all ex-pats. What are you going to be doing here ? Cheers

thanks for your replies (cheeky Rob.lol) I am already feeling happier about things...the job is ok, but my main passion is writing (in particular travel stuff) so living over there will give me the perfect opportunity to pursue this.....

I have read over the other posts and this forum is great....so I will be a regular now

possibly..could be day out though...but I would love to come along but i will depend on the flights, pencil me in and I will let u know as soon as I organise the trip...would be nice to have some people to meet

I got the verbal confirmation on my job, but waiting for it in writing (i dare'nt say anymore in case I tempt fate- silly i know its nothing that exciting...i think its the fact that I have been really wanting to leave the Uk (i have been back a year after spending time in New Zealand) and at last its happening...

Hi again Smiler I am sure you will love it here and as you have seen already how friendly everyone is. Know what you mean don't want to tempt fate until you have it all in writing. Where abouts do you live in the UK. This is sunny being nosey now. Where will you be living when you get, this is sunny being even more nosey now. Hope you don't mind all the questions. Leaving the UK, we have all done it and some still wanting to.

Hi Sunny...dont worry dont think you are nosey - I live in Yorkshire and I think I will based nr Los Cristinaos (spelling??)

Karlb - thanks for saying Hi, yes New Zealand was fab...I was there for three years...came home for a hol and met an old friend..you know how it is LoL stayed for a year, but its time for smiler to take on new adventures..

My mum lives in Auckland now tho...married to a kiwi for 2 years...we swapped palces lol

I will definitley be in touch and let you know how things go...handing my notice in on monday..keep everything crossed for me

Hi again Smiler, my Dad is a Yorkshireman and if you are anything like him you must be OK. Los Cristianos maybe good for when you get here as lots going on there and plenty of life. We live in Palm Mar just over the mountain from LC very quiet here but maybe a bit too quiet for you, but we like it. Bet you are worried about handing in your notice, but sure it will be fine. When do you actually move out here. Am sure if you keep in touch with us all you will get lets of support and of course our boss Rob will assist, he knows loads about everything out here and of course Jenny and Strips. Keep posting
