Yes it works the same as the UK. The insurance companies take your money and if you make a claim they charge you double in order to get their money back again. Seriously, because so much property is aprtments or flats the insurance tends to be seperate for buildings and contents. _________________ .

We are going to be buying next year and this is something we are going to need to look at.
I dont think I would know where to start actually, the local papers probably. But then am I getting the same deal a local would.
Without having the language I would have no idea.
Another reason to add to the list of why learning Spanish is so important. _________________ Need a cleaner in South Tenerife ? Cleaning just got better... www.maid4tenerife.com

| Possibly some of the UK companies do policies for owners abroad - will make some enquiries this end and let you know |

We have separate contents and building insurance. As we live in an apartment ent the building insurance is included in our community fees which is dealt with by the administrators, in our case a large administration company in LC. Our contents and car insurance we arranged with a really good company in LC, can't think of the name right now but can look it up if you are interested, but he is very efficient and speaks good English. When he arranged the car insurance he arranged for the paperwork to be delivered to the Renault garage for us, as they would not release the car to us unless they saw the paperwork. |
