Hi everyone, I am very serious about enrolling my son into a martial art class here in Tenerife.

I have made quite a few enquires, he is only 4, until he knows his left from his right, I have been told I am wasting my money.

There looks to be quite a good one near you Rob, I popped in and was confronted by glove bearing six pack muscle men, kicking bags to little pieces. Ideal. Not sure what age he can start from though? The style was Kung-fu.

I want him to not only to be able to protect himself but to learn, respect, confidence and self control.

Can any one point me in the right direction?

Having done some martial arts myself I am not interested in Karate, taekwondo or Judo.

Kung-fu, kick boxing, Thai Boxing would be perfect.

Just rung a friend of mine who's son goes to Adeje town hall classes. She thinks that they'll take him at four but says that the enrolling is happening now so you need to get there quick. They won't allow mid session joining. Her son does judo but there are other martial arts on offer.

I know its an old ad but a very good friend of mine teaches martial arts, Kempo i think its called. I'm told its one of the better ones. He will teach groups or one to one. He is called Dean Cameron and has an advert in the tenerife property guide every month, obviously i can't put his number on here for obvious reasons.

Thanks for all the info. Cannot register my son until Sept now so left it to late Rob.

My son has given up one of his activities and needs something else to replace it, I think martial arts will be good for him.

I could not find your friends number Andy could you pm it to me.

Or if anyone else has children doing Taekwondo or Judo I would appreciate your help.

I think at 4 he is to young for Karate. Or so I have been advised from the numerous martial art forums I have been on.
