Post subject: hi another newbie |

Hi there I have joined this forum as myself and my hubby intend to move out to Tenerife to live there permanently. We can't do this for 2 years tho until son is at uni. We are making preparations and have already started to have spanish tuition and are doing ok.
We love the north especially around Puerto de la cruz and stay there at least 3 times per year. We are next over in december.
we are both nurses and as yet have no knowledge about the possibility of working as nurses when we move over. Also unsure about nursing wages, if anyone could shed some light I would be grateful.
Who knows tho we could decide to do a completely different line of work to go with our new lifestyle. We would definately be open to suggestions.
Thanks for listening to my ramblings. |

That's a hard one. I often go to the Doctor's and know one quite well, so I will ask her next time what she advises. Otherwise you could write to the hospitals in and around the area you plan to live or to the Social Security.
How would you go about it in UK? Who would you contact for nursing jobs? Perhaps it would be similar here. |

in the UK we have the Royal college of nurses and we have a regulated payscale for the whole of the country in the public sector, obviously the private sector pays differently. But I just need a starting point.
My parents spend the winter over in tenerife and have organised a meeting with some spanish friends of theirs. She is a nurse and he is a consultant gynaecologist, so if we have no info by the time we next visit in December I will have to pick their brains.
Thanks anyway and if you do happen across any info I would be most grateful |

Hi LidlDee and a big welcome from me to.
Sounds like you have plenty of time to plan and as Stripps said learning Spanish will be such a bonus you’ll have no idea until you arrive here.
Are you planning to visit before you move over as you will probably be able to find out a lot more info in person
Good luck and hopefully we may see you at one of our forum meets. _________________ Need a cleaner in South Tenerife ? Cleaning just got better... www.maid4tenerife.com

Karl we will be over for 8 days early december, we are meeting up with a Dr and a nurse on that visit and also a hospital visitor. We are also over for 16 days next July/August but we would also like to get over possibly some time in march too. We are trying to get over as much as possible to widen our circle of aquaintances and fact find as much as we can.
It does make it easier for us as my parents winter over there from Nov to April, so we can also set them missions of things to do for us.
I would literally sell up and go now if it were not for needing to get my son into uni. but at least it means we are not rushing into it and have the time to learn the lingo etc.
It is the one thing that keeps us going; the thought of moving over there. There is not a day goes by that we don't discuss it; and we have felt like this since february. |

Hi LidlDee
You appear to really doing your homework on the move over here. I know it can be frustrating having to wait but we were the same decided four years before we actually moved here, my hubby had to close down a busines etc so took time, we thought the day would never come, but amazingly of course it did, and all the time spent organising things from England etc and also over here on our visits paid off in the end. Cheers |

I may be corrected but from my experience you are certainly the most prepared newbie coming over that I have seen.
And believe me it will all be worth it.
Well done. _________________ Need a cleaner in South Tenerife ? Cleaning just got better... www.maid4tenerife.com
