Which is russian and means 'Hello!'
Stumbled across this forum after a recent visit to Tenerife. I have two brothers living on the island and perhaps 1 day I might move across there myself. I currently reside in Moscow where the beer is cold and the weather is colder. I guess you could say I am somewhat envious of my fellow expats who live in Tenerife as a cold night for you guys is probably the temp hovering around 15 degrees.
I've been an expat for 14 years and like most find the UK, dull, over-rated and slightly tedious. Oh and the cost of living there is astronomical.

Just a quick question for you .....why do you live in Russia??? sorry for asking but isn't it really cold there most of the time???

I could lie and say it's because of the warm fuzzy feeling I get every morning when I get out of bed knowing that I shall trudge through 3 inches of snow, (for 5 months of the year) when it's minus 20 to buy a loaf of bread and a pint of milk from the local kiosk.
I guess I live here because there's never a dull moment and even after all my time here it still feels like an adventure just walking down the street. We have a saying amongst the seasoned expats here 'don't let anything shock you' because sure as hell something will. I'm not being downhearted, it's a love-hate relationship Russia and I even when there's something a person hates, you can usually laugh about it because it's totally ridiculous and no-one would believe you unless they'd lived for a decent amount of time in Moscow. Russia is an enigma and always will be.
Oh and the vodka's cheap, Moscovites are very hospitable once you know them, and the salary's not bad either.
