Hi for the first time ever my partner and I are going away for Christmas and New Year, our flight out is on Christmas Eve and we land at about 7pm.

I believe this is the main holiday in Spain rather than Christmas Day like it is in Britain?

We are concerned we are going to be ok for taxi, not just if any will be there, but being a holiday will the prices be bumped up to a crazy level?

We are staying in Puerto De Santiago which I know isn't that close either.

I wondered what you all thought, have anyone ever travelled on Christmas Eve and found it a problem?

Hi, You don't say which airport you're flying in to....Taxi drivers like most people want to be with their family on xmas eve so there won't be so many around plus you'll pay a surcharge. Would you want to be paid extra to work xmas eve? If you arive in the North airport no problem , if you 're coming to the South and don't want to spend much try the buses. Titsa

I think the buses stop early on Christmas Eve too... Xmas Eve is a festival called 'Buena Noche' and all the Canarian families get together for a big meal.

To get to Puerto Santiago you will need the 473 from Los Cristianos or Las Americas. There is a bus from the airpost straight to these resorts. Expect a long journey though, as it's about an hour from Las Americas to Los Gigantes (next door to Puerto Santiago)

You will pay a LOT for a cab. I would reckon at least 60€

You could try paying someone off here to meet you! I would offer, but my car's really small.

If they're travelling from the South to Puerto on Xmas eve I think you'll find it's a lot more than 60 Euros. Normal daytime is about 45 I think

Oh dear thats what we feared.

Well I guess we will have no choice. neither of us want to drive - we'd only get lost anyway!!!!

Yes we are flying to the south airport.

Hey I'm up for any proposition should anyone fancy that (giving us a lift I mean!! LOL).

We would be more than happy to pay someone for their trouble for the peace of mind of getting there.

Couldn't get a flight any other day than christmas eve so we didn't have any option.

It's a worry, dont fancy being stuck at the airport all night!!!!
