Ha ha ....the evil telefonica.......

Iwent to a telefonica shop in Los cristianos and booked it in there...I was a lucky one...it arrived in 3 days and was sorted out ..

You need a NIE number and a spanish bank account first....

Then book it and hopefully it comes....theres loads of info on here about it...good reports bad reports..lol

Blah Don't get me started lol....

Telefonica don't actually need an NIE number, as they can connect you with just a passport number instead. Its the bank that will probably insist on seeing an N.I.E when you open an account.

I suppose you could cut the bank out of the picture altogether, but lets face it, who wants to send Telefonica cash or postal orders every quarter !!

You can have a non resident bank account without an NIE but you can't have a telephone without one. Telefonica won't give you a telephone without a bank account

You need to check what account you have then Stripps. I suspect if they opened it without an NIE it will be a non resident account which most banks charge you more than for a residents account.

Hey Stripps, you can have a phone line without an NIE, we had a business with a line and sold the business with a small phone bill owing, we tried to contact Telefonica to get a duplicate bill so we could pay it as we had lost the original and they kept cutting us off and said they knew nothing about the bill.
The people we used are MAS.Com in the valdez centre, they suggested that when we got a home line we applied using the passport number rather than the NIE so the outstanding bill that we tried very hard to pay didn't slow the installation up at home, hey presto it didn't, everything was installed using only a passport number and we do have a residents bank account.
If you need a line don't try and sort it yourself, ring Soulef or Lucas on 922788695, they don't charge a fee and will do everything for you.
They are based at the Valdez centre at the other end from the social office on the same side, its now changed its signs outside from mas.com to the Orange shop, it is where HELLO communications used to be if you know of them?
