Hi everyone,
Quick intro thing...living in Moscow, trying to relocate to Tenerife. Worked here as bar manager, club promoter-director, project manager, actor and currently as a DJ. Due to personal problems I need a change of scene and career, so any help and suggestions welcome.
So far I am very impressed by the forums and they way you guys look after each other...respect.
DJ Biscuit.
P.S Karlb, I may know your brother! |

Hi DJ Biscuit and Welcome. I think you may well know my brother and I hope this forum helps. To help others to help you a little more info may be needed,
1. Do you speak any Spanish
2 Do you have a UK Passport
3 How long are you planning on staying, holiday season or for good or undecided.
Before you make a big change I hope you have read these

Karlb, thanks.
I have read the articles and some other posts here. Very useful site.
I have a British passport, I am English.
I don't speak Spanish which I realise is a drawback. I speak fluent Russian, if that's at all relevant!
The reason for wanting to move to Tenerife from Moscow is needing a new start after a personal tragedy tore my life apart. My intention would be to settle in Tenerife for good. However I do understand that finding work, and at a reasonable salary is going to be difficult.
I have run bars and clubs, from initial concept through construction , completion and beyond (Braders will fill you in on the history). I work as a DJ at the moment.
I appreciate your time and help.

Thanks for that DJB, others may chip in with their advice but from what I have learnt here is mine. It may not be what you want to hear but its honest, better to have an idea before coming over of what is in store before finding out the hard way as so many do.
To own and run a bar successfully is very rare. You will need a huge bank balance to keep dipping into be prepared to work very very long hours and I do not want to start on the paperwork! If you think you may be able to work in a bar and progress up the wages are very low. Hotel work is an option but without the language you will find it difficult.
Office work again the language.
DJ work, if you are good you should be able to find work. It may be guest spots unless you are lucky enough to find a residency. I am unsure of the wages for this.
Accommodation - one bed in the main areas - long term - 500 - 550ish euros per month.
If you come over I would advice to have at least enough savings to last 5-6 months. Most rental agencies ask for a month in advance and some charge a finder’s fee of half a months rent.
The lifestyle here is fantastic but be prepared to work for it.
Keep us up to date and any other questions let us know
Good luck. _________________ Need a cleaner in South Tenerife ? Cleaning just got better... www.maid4tenerife.com
