Heymikey
You hear all sorts of things about paperwork and whats needed and whats not needed, it is quite daunting sometimes.
However for the NIE once you have the form it may be worth while filling it in yourself and getting used to some of the Spanish words on the form. These words, if you decide to stay or move over for good, will become very familiar. Once filled in take it down to the police station in PDLA and queue for a few days!!! A word of advice if you do not want to queue it is worth getting there at about 7.30ish, although they do not open until 9 that hour and a half will seem like nothing if you turn up mid morning.
However if you do not have the time and have bags of cash then pay someone to do it for you.
I would suggest doing it yourself, its worth it and you get a great feeling of satisfaction when you have it.

having read through the posts about applying for your NIE I am now confused as to whether you get your NIE and then look for a job or get your job offer and then take it with your form etc to apply for the NIE as without it you won't get the NIE?
So basically which comes first, The NIE or the job?

| If you can put another reason for needing NIE (eg for buying house, or for chidlren's schooling - and back it up with some sort of proof) then it is better to get NIE before a job as many employers will want you to have NIE before they will offer you a job, although it is not impossible to find a job without it. |

I don't have kids so can't look for schools and I can't buy a place before I get there so I guess I need to get a job and then an NIE - nightmare!
Thanks for the reply Bubbly - would be nice to meet up. Now listen, is there any chance I can borrow one of your kids just to sort out some Spanish paperwork?! _________________ Anyone know of any photography opportunities?? |
