Looking to buy somewhere to live in Tenerife
Costa sel Silencio is much cheaper than PDLA and LC, but have heard bad reports regarding aircraft noise, very quiet resort etc.
Honest opinions appreciated, apartment there is £20-£30K cheaper than las Americas, dont know whether to take a "gamble" or not!!

How much would it cost in a taxi to PDLA roughly?
Ditto on a bus, what time do they stop running?

its about €15 from TFS airport. Was €18 (i think) from golf du sur last june.

According to the many newspaper reports about drugs and muggings in Costa sel Silencio, you may want to think abpout Bagdad.... Safer than Micheal Jacksons bedroom! (aparently)

I just reed your message about Costa del Silencio.
1. There are no more drugs on Costa del Silencio than in Playa's or LC. Since a few years the Playa police is verry bussy !!!
2. The aircrafts are not causing problems, not more than anywhere els in Tenerife.
I live at Tenerife ( Costa del Silencio ) and i have 2 apartments for rent there. Not one off our gast are complaining about noice or anything els.

I missed your first post but can answer you now. There are plenty of good properties in Costa del Silencio as in any other town. Property in Hull is cheaper than London does that mean I shouldn't buy in Hull. The simple answer is to go and live somewhere for a while (or holiday) to get a feel for it before you buy. Try Murray Hocknell (estate agent in our property section) they rent and sell apartments and villas.

Thats true, Murry is a good agency. A few years ago, whe visited several apartments with them and they have good apartments.
It is also true that you better rent a few mounths to now iff the location is wath you are looking for. It is always easy to pack your baggs than to sell your property.

Stevo, I live in Costa del Silencio in a 2 bedroom apartment that is up for sale because the owner has moved back to Guernsey. I have been here since early Dec 2004 and intend moving at the end of August. I want to move not because I have problems with the area but because I much prefer the north of the island. This place is well supplied with buses, has all the usual things like bars, shops, pools, etc and is within easy walking distance of the sea and the town of Las Galletas. The aircraft noise doesn't bother me and I have heard no one else complaining about the planes. Muggings and anti social behaviour appear to be no worse than in Cristianos or Las Americas and unfortunately these days can be encountered anywhere. Personally I would recommend you visited the area and checked it out for yourself. Yes, it can be quiet here in the bars and restaurants but again the same can be said for many places in Tenerife.
