Is a very beautiful flowering tree. The flower heads hang down and even when they have finished they stay on the tree looking attractive even when they turn brown.

The flower in the photo is from a Dombeya in one of the main squares in Icod and I have also seen this growing in La Orotava.

Is it the same family as the Hydrangea as it looks similar?

No, it's not but a related parent species Dombeya wallichii is known as the Tropical Hydrangea, although it is not a hydrangea either.
