Post subject: Very sad news - my Smudge is dead |
|
|
Yesterday was one of the worst days of my life because when I got up my cat Smudge wasn't asleep on my bed or there to wake me with his voice or to run down stairs with Tiggy (my she cat) for his breakfast and I was very worried! My worst fears were confirmed when I found him in a communal rubbish bin when I was putting a bag there down the alley from here. Well, at first I was so shocked I couldn't accept it was him but I got him out of the bin and in tears carried him home to bury him in the front garden here. I have been bursting into tears all day yesterday and started today the same way. I posted about it at my LJ here:
http://www.livejournal.com/users/elybard/19015.html?view=53063#t53063t53063
Some of you had seen pics of Smudge before and I am glad I got one last one of him the day before he was taken from me.
PS This is why I've not been around much! _________________ Find out more about me here: http://www.myspacetenerife.com/index.php?page=view_profile&id=10 |

| Sorry to hear of your loss Bard, I hope it wasn't the owners of the dolls he 'borrowed'. |

Hi Rob and Sara! Thank you for your messages.
I have no way of ever knowing how he died. He could have been hit by a car, killed by a dog (as Cindy has suggested) or even poisoned as another friend has told me goes on here. Cindy was saying to me that he had had a happy life, short as it was! I just wish it hadn't ended so suddenly or so unexpectedly!
Rob, I gave the dolls to 2 little Spanish girls who live on this block who seemed happy with them. They were just painful reminders to me if I kept them here, and Tiggy the girl cat didn't like them. _________________ Find out more about me here: http://www.myspacetenerife.com/index.php?page=view_profile&id=10 |

I'm sorry to hear about your kitty - I came home late at night a few months ago and found my cat 2 feet from my door, it was absolutely ping it down and he was soaked and there was blood allover his head, day after the neighbors came and told me 2 girls had hit him with their car and came asking if they knew who owned him He was only 3! _________________ New Copper!

I am very sorry to hear about your cat, too, Andy!
Apollo, I am feeling a lot better now but it has made me very protective and worried about Tiggy each time she goes out. I couldn't bear it if anything ever happened to her! She was looking a bit lost yesterday and I am sure I was too. I was bursting into tears all the time and couldn't focus on anything I was supposed to be doing. I have never been so upset about an animal before but then I have never had a cat die before! _________________ Find out more about me here: http://www.myspacetenerife.com/index.php?page=view_profile&id=10 |

| Hi Bard+, like the others, I'm sorry to hear about Smudge. I'm not a cat person, but thought Smudge was gorgeous. Glad you have happy memories of him x |

My first post - and my first view of this forum....
I just typed a few things into Google and this was the first forum to show.
Sorry to hear about Smudge, who it seems became a bit of a star on this site.
I just lost my eldest cat tonight - Tigger - she was in great health until 10 weeks ago when we noticed a large swelling on he chest - turned out to be malignant - we got it removed, and she seemed to be getting over the operation great - but other swellings came back eventually.
Anyhow, tonight we came in from work to find her slumped at the bottom of the stairs - my wife picked her up and she (Tigger) immediately peed all over Mrs Spooks. Her co-ordination had also gone.
From previous experience (Misty) we both knew in the bottom of our hearts that this was the beginning of the end (kidney failure) - the vet confirmed what we thought.
I'm not ashamed to admit that I cried like a little girl as she went to her final sleep - heck - I'm a 6 feet 2 inch, 15 stone guy (age 36) - and was surrounded by the (female) vet and 3 assistants - one maybe about 30 and two teenagers - but I didn't give a damn what they thought of this old(er) guy sobbing like a kid - Christ - Tigger was 15 years of my life!
And she will be alive in my thoughts for many more.
Bardo - I haven't ever found one of my cats in the tragic situation that you have - my heart goes out to you.........
But giving the vet permission to lethally inject your pets of 9 and 15 years respectively really is a heart-wrencher.
I console myself as she is no longer in pain.
I'm sorry that this is such a long first post - just had a few things on my mind |

Thanks for your reply....
You speak about my/our loss - but Tigger's gain - she is no longer in pain - which is the thing that I cling on to.
I've only got 3 cats left - lets see who of the cats takes over Tiggy's reign!
They've got their work cut out to be as great as she was. |
