Hi guys
Ive been a lerker for the past 3 weeks since i found this wonderful site, so i thought it was time i joined and started asking questions as you all seem a friendly bunch.
On the 2nd of may this year i went to Tenerife with hubby for a weeks break. Now we booked our holiday with Thomson and stayed at the beautiful Tenerife Princess Hotel.
I loved this holiday so much ive decided im going back on the 2nd august 2005 with my best frind for a week. Hubby is treating us both, and is booking it tonight.
The thing is what is this hotel like in the high season? Is it packed out or will we find it relaxing like we did in may? What is the area like at this time of year as well? Will us girlies be safe walking the streets in the evening? Also what sort of weather are we likely to get? temperatures please?
Hope you can help me with this one? Have to say that Tenerife made a big impression on me. Ive never been before as i was told by many it was a dump. Well, they can go jump as its the best place ever. Ive been on many hoildays but this one really did beat them all.
In fact i love this country so very much im getting hubby to book us all in for a week in october so i can introduce the kids to it.
Bye bye for now!

..hi tina! welcome to the forum..
...i've never been to the reef in august, but i imagine it will be heaving and majorly busy..as with any holiday resorts, i'd advise you to enjoy yourself but be aware that bad things can happen ( anywhere) when you've had a few bevvies and have let your guard down, women out on their own or in small groups, will be tempting for any unscrupulous pervs!!.. just remember to stick together and don't leave your drinks unattended at any time...
.... a girlie holiday with no kids, bliss!! lucky you..
....as for kids, there's loads for them to do, and in october half- term week it will be busy so there will be plenty of mates for them to mess around with.... |

Hi Sara
Thank you for the lovely welcome, and some answers to my questions. Yes it will be heaven having no kids again. When we went in may i left the kids with MIL. She had a ball looking after them and getting them to school
My best buddie and i have planned to just do some shopping in the early evening so we wont go far from the hotel. In fact we have decided that we will have tons of good sun for a good 6 hours of the day, good food and drink and then retire to the hotels bar till bed time. Im not that brave about walking the streets to clubs and bars. In fact the Princess has everything we need.
What time of day would you suggest for shopping and street walking> its my mates first time to Tenerife and she wants to sample the beach, local Cafe's and the shops. Also have you got to be careful about carrying cash about?
Anyway, nice to meet you Sara. Nice to have a friendly face about to welcome me |

hi tina
im 18 and ive been to tenerife 3 times. i was there at the end of april going into may also and i m going back over to live at the end of august.
when i went in april i went with my friend aswell and we went out ourselves at night and we were fine, altho we never walked home we always got a taxi but i dont think you need to restrict yourself to only going out at certain points of the day i think if you are careful and dont go into any dodgy streets or allys u will be fine.

Thank you so much for that. Ive been told some horror stories by people that we will be mugged, stabbed and all sorts in the high season
You are at the right age to be going to live out their. Its wonderful that you young people are not scared of adventure. When i was younger i travelled all over the place without a care in the world.
I wish you luck in that beaiutiful country. If i was young again id do the same thing. |

..hi tina!
.. when we go to the reef we usually spend most of the day either on the beach or by the pool making the most of the fantastic sun!! we usually go walkabout in the early evening ( 6pm +), it's cooler and fills in a bit of time before heading off to have dinner. sometimes if the kids aren't too whacked after a day of playing, swimming etc.. we head down to the seafront for a drink in one of the many bars and a walk along the seafront ( god, i sound ancient!!) and there's usually loads of shops still open... as for carrying cash , i don't usually carry it, better-half does, but i would if i had to. it's the same as everywhere, don't flash it about and you should be ok! i'm sure your mate will love every minute.. i wish i was back there now......... |

Sara you did make me laugh. Every day since i have been back i have wanted to be back out their. Christ only knows why this country is a hit with me but it is. I miss it so much. Time goes past and i didnt even know what day it was when i was out their. I was just so happy.
Id live out their if i could but i have horses and when i was there i never saw one horse, lol. My poor little buggers would wonder what the hell had hit them with no grass and cool trees to shade usder. Least they wouldnt be bothered by pesky flies.
Plus i Have 2 British Bulldogs. Daisy loves her paddling pool and sun bathing but Arnie is a misery when the sun hits us and cant stand the water, lol.
When are you going back? Have you booked your holiday yet? My hubby booked outs just an hour ago and we fly out from Luton Airport at 4pm on 2nd august. Now its booked the weeks are going to drag by,lol. |

Hi Tina!
I work nights in the hospital in las americas and we normally get more drunken people in than mugged ones. We do get probably 1-2 mugged ones on average but as long as you don't carry everything that you owe with you and don't go to las americas to get too drunk, I'm sure you'll be fine. But be aware with the taxi drivers as well as they have mugged people here before as well (but mostly because they hadn't been paid or the customers left a mess behind them). |
