If you have an English car and you bring it here. you have to tax it until you matriculate it onto spanish plates .....then tell DVLA that you have exported the car.......else you will be charged the £80 pound no tax fee. _________________ Find out more at www.myspacetenerife.com

My UK car Tax ran out while here so renewed on dvla web site, and had it posted out to me here.
Took out of date one from car wind screen, just in case nosey local police noticed the dates, and kept it with reciept in car untill new one arrived.
Hope that helps.
Cheers Steve. |

| Hi everyone we are thinking of coming to live in Tenerife very soon. Can someone please tell us is there any road tax on a car bought in Tenerife? Are there any other taxes that become due when you buy or own one? Is it like an apartment that when you buy if there are any outstanding debts you inherit them? Sorry to ask so many questions straight off. Thanks |

Hi Jangle and welcome to the forum. Please introduce yourself.
Yes, you pay a 'permiso de circulacion' each year. Cost depends on the area you live in and the size of the engine. It's much cheaper than the UK. Yes debts do go with the car so it's VERY important to change to your name and check it out properly. _________________ .
