Post subject: sorry but im going to poke my eyes out if i dont ask |
|
|
ive been searching for ages and im still waiting to hear from solbank in tenerife and ive a feeling i'll be waiting a while and also waiting to hear from global currency solutions for some information to
i'll get to my point ...me and paul dont know what the best way is to sort our savings out for tenerife. we dont have a bank account set up as yet in tenerife as were still in the uk and i'm assuming you need a NIE number first before you can open a bank and we dont want to carry the amount we have in euros because that would be stupid...im stuck for ideas because ive got a feeling if we use our current account card in tenerife they'll charge us a lot for withdrawing money.
ive got a feeling the best way is bringing it via travellers cheques but then theres the risk of the currency rate being lower your end
eek sorry if this is a confusing post im confused my head hurts and my eyes are stinging...roll on the 30th april anyway
any help would be appreciated as ever!!!!!!!!!! |

I find CajaCanarias to be the best for banking here. They have specialist linguists who's job it is to deal with the english and you can bank online if you wish. You can have an account without an NIE, just your passports. I'm not sure if you can open one from the UK but I'm meeting with a director of that bank tomorrow so I can ask for you. I'm now going to ring global to see what's happening. _________________ .

Not for cash it isn't. The best exchange rates come from specialist foreign exchange brokers. _________________ .

as long as you have a safe in your apartment i would take cash.... most small excursion shops give a good rate generally 5 to 10 euros more than the banks and they dont charge commision . back in march i was getting 152 euro for £100 ,, the banks were around 146 for £100 . but your 1st concern is how safe your money is in your apartment .. |

DON'T DO THAT. If it gets stolen is it worth trying to make a few cents? Have global given you a rate? In 20 years I've always found that a forex company is the cheapest option. If you carry it in don't forget to make a declaration if it's more than 10,000 Euros or customs will confiscate it till you prove that it's legal money. http://www.sun4free.com/forum/ftopic6351.html
