I got a secretarial job with an estate agency after 6 months of living here. I had to have basic Spanish so there is hope for you.
A piece of advice from me (if you haven't got a boyfriend): when you get here find youself a Spanish bloke who can't talk English. This is a tried and tested way of picking it up really fast.
