Hi Kelly and welcome to the forum.
This is a tricky question that has been covered a number of times. Everyone has different opinions.
We moved over when my son was 3 and he went into Spanish school and now loves it. We have been here just over a year. His language is excellent now and has a lot of friends who he can chat to in Spanish.
One think I would stress is before moving here is to learn or take some lessons in Spanish. You are going to struggle if you have no language whatsoever.
I find it a little confusing you are moving over in the next month but have no Spanish language. I personally think you have made the right choice in an English school if your daughter is 6 but others will disagree.
Let us know if there is anything we can help you with. _________________ Need a cleaner in South Tenerife ? Cleaning just got better... www.maid4tenerife.com

I put my children straight into spanish schools....they were 4 6 and 8 when they started. They all speak spanish ..of course the youngest has only just started last september so is learning , but the other 2 are very very good. They knew nothing before they came.
They learn very quickly.
I have very strong opinions about the EEC....
english school in generals are OK ..lol BUT i would have chose wingate over the EEC.
I know many people who have taken their children out of EEC for many many reasons. My sister even took her children out.
You will hear good and bad about everything..and everywhere, at the end of the day you make the decision for yourself lol...
Where abouts will you be staying when you move over...maybe we can meet up for a coffee..lol _________________ Find out more at www.myspacetenerife.com

Hi Kelly and welcome form me too.
Pro Spanish school: she will learn Spanish quicker and better.
Pro English school: if you are thinking you may go back to UK one day before she has finished her schooling then she will be doing the same curriculum here.
If she is a quiet and shy child she may find it a little overwhelming at first as she won't understand what people are saying but if she's a lively and outgoing child then she will soon make friends. In the south of Tenerife there are usually many English children (and German/Dutch/French etc etc) so she is not alone.
Teamwoods also have a 6 year old son who they have just put into Las Galletas Spanish school. My 5 year old also goes there but he was born here (and has a Spanish dad) so I didn't even have to think about which school! _________________ Who am I? I will make this day a happy one for I alone can determine what kind of day it will be. |
