Thanks for your reply Sam.
Incidentally my laptop was a Fujitsu costing £340 from Staples.
Since I last posted this thread I have contacted Telefonica. Apparently giving 2 weeks notice I could transfer my whole contract with them to another address in Spain, which , of course , includes Tenerife.
However checking with the people at the place I will be coming to ( Camping Nauta ), it seems there are no telephone connections for the mobile homes on the site. I am told that there is an English wireless connection company which enables wireless for €240 to include €40 for the first month. The connection usually works OK but occosonally fades ? because of the mountain.
This seems expensive as an ongoing charge when I am already paying to Telefonica who would be prepared to transfer my ADSL and included landline national calls if I had a connection.
My laptop works OK here in Spain using the router I have for my desktop.
Has anyone any observations or advice. I dont want to discontinue with Telefonica as I have ( unlike many ) no grumbles and I have heard many horror stories about trying to discontinue direct debits to them. These ring true as I had to pay over £100 in the UK on discontinuing my dial up with NTL because I only rang once to ask them to do this and I cancelled the direct debit.
All the Best
