Canary Island Foxglove (Isoplexis canariensis) is known as Cresta de Gallo in Spanish and is found growing in clearings in the laurisilva forests of the mountains of Tenerife, especially in the north. Like the ordinary foxglove it has a medicinal action on the heart but can also be dangerous because of this and it not to be used by by anyone but an experienced practitioner. It is, however, one of the many herbs used in traditional Canarian folk medicine and herbalism.
The Canary Island Foxglove is a protected species.
