Had this not happened to me I would not have believed it.

To cut a long story short, we have 2 cars, a banger which is mine and an expensive one which is the wifes from Ford Las Chafiras under a 3 year warranty.

Expensive car breaks down, truck tows it to Las Chafiras. After exam it needs a new clutch. And a service too which we knew about. Total bill almost 900 euros which is ok as the clutch is expensive, I checked.

We were told they needed the car for over a week, I explained we could not do without the car for that long and so would need a courtesy car. No can do they said as its not under warranty, not interested I said. So after lots of chit chat and speaking with the director we were told you will get a call before tomorrow 11am to come and get your courtesy car. 12 o clock came and no call so I set off to get my courtesy car, determined.

Upon arrival, again, car is not under warranty so no courtesy car. I was going no where and stood my ground asking for the director. An HOUR later the engineer came to me and said we have a solution, your car is under warranty so you CAN have a courtesy car. So not only did we get the courtesycar but my bill was reduced by over 500 euros.

And to think I almost took it to another garage, by tow truck, to get it done quicker and cheaper for 840 euros !!!

I tell you it true lol.....The louder you shout or DENOUNCIA seems to work too.

I have had similar experiences..although not with cars, but with things that were under warranty. You eventually get what you are entitled to BUT it takes a bit of getting lol

Surely you knew how long the warranty was when you bought the car? Ford give you a great big glossy warranty brochure... Confused

And why did you still have to pay half? Ford Warranties cover parts AND labour?? Sounds like they've STILL had you over... Crying or Very sad

The warranty is 3 years as the car was a year old. Ford give a 4 year warranty with new cars. I was not sure if the clutch was covered as they said it was down to wear and tear basically.

It will actually be over 500 euros as I am expecting to pay about 200-250 euros for a full service which was due in line with my warranty.

Good man Karl, well done.

I had a similar experience a few years ago with a main dealer and clutch problem. Mrs Treb was suffering from leprosy, she was very ill. She was out in the car and called me to tell me she had burnt the clutch out. The main dealer didn't want to know and said the reason it happened was because she left her foot on it.
